Early morning flight into Paro (via Kolkada). Paro is at an altitude of 2300m above sea level. Met by our representative and then drive to Thimphu - the only capital in the world without any traffic lights, which is about one hour drive. First to visit the Memorial Chorten, The Chorten is also a center of worship for the people living in Thimphu. Then go to General Postal Office Bhutan, an old Post Office Building where you can make your own stamps with your own photos right on the spot!If weekends and time permits, you will visit weekend market before dinner. Thimphu is the capital and largest city of the Kingdom of Bhutan. After hotel breakfast first proceeds to visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), it is a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue constructed in the mountains of Bhutan. The statue houses over one hundred thousand smaller Buddha statues. You can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley from the Buddha point. Next to visit the Motithang Mini Zoo, the National animal Takin research centre where these odd animals graze peacefully in a small protected park. Continue to visit Tashichhoe Dzong, the fortress of the glorious religion’s houses the throne room of His Majesty, the King, the main secretariat building and the central Monk body. The National School of Traditional Arts, where young monks learn the art of Buddhist thangkha painting; the workshops for mask making and fine metal craft, weaving, ceramics and paper.

Morning drive to Punakha at about 3 hours from Thimphu crossing the Dochula pass - This Pass offers panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain ranges. The beauty of this place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyal Chortens - with 108 stupas built by the Queen. In clear weather, you can see the Himalaya Ranges with all snow covered. A short hike to Chimi Lhakhang (Temple). A gentle walk thru beautiful farm houses and vast plains of rice fields. The monastery is dedicated to the Divine Madman who is popularly known as Drukpa Kinley. The temple is regarded as a sanctum of fertility and most childless couples usually makea visit to this temple to seek the fertility blessings. Visit the Punakha Dzong, a massive structure built at the junction of two rivers. It was the capital of Bhutan until 1955, and still serves as the winter residence of the monk body.

After breakfast drive to Gantey Valley via Wangdue – situated in Phobjikha Valley, which is the winter home of the endangered Black Necked Cranes that migrate to this valley from Tibet in winter. Gangtey is situated in Phobjeykha Valley at 3,000m above sea-level is a wide almost flat beautiful alpine valley. As you enter you will notice the Gangtey Goemba or Monastery, one of the oldest and largest Nyingma Buddhist centre in Bhutan.

Drive back to Paro via Wangdue Phodrang. Upon arrival, visit Rinpung Dzong, the most famous monastery of Bhutan and maybe the best representative of Bhutan architecture. Rinpung Dzong or the 'fortress of the heap of jewels' which is the seat of the district administration and the residence of the monastic school. The dzong is famous for its wall murals depicting Buddhist parables, symbols and the lives of prominent saints. Then visit Ta Dzong, inaugurated as National Museum in 1968, and holding a fascinating collection of art, relics, religious thangkha paintings, Bhutan's exquisite postage stamps, coins and handicrafts, together with a small natural history collection. We will take a drive to the ruins of the Drukgyel Dzong which was once a historic monument built as a symbol of victory for the Bhutanese against the northern invaders. Now it stands in ruins. In 1914 issue of National Geographic magazine Drukgyel Dzong was shown in its glory.

After breakfast we will visit Taktshang Goemba Temple(Tiger’s Nest) which sits on the cliff of 900m from Paro valley, one of today’s sacred pilgrimage site where Guru Padmasambhava (also known as Guru Rinpoche) landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. The hike up the monastery takes up to 3-4 hours. The monastery is perched on the side of the cliff at the height of 900 meters above the Paro Valley. In the afternoon to visit Kyichu Lhakhang, built in 7th century, is one of the two oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan.
